I’m a person who just loves to travel. I’m not talking about going to the same boring place year after year either. As far as I’m concerned, the more exotic the destination the better. That usually means traveling overseas, which is a costly proposition that is made even more so these days by skyrocketing fuel costs. So the first thing I do when planning a new trip is comb the Internet for cheap international flights.
So many misconceptions abound about cheap international flights that I feel I ought to clear some things up right at the start here. First of all, getting discount tickets for overseas travel doesn’t mean you’ll end up flying on a no-name airline with a spotty service record. With a little luck, you’ll probably even be able to get seats on your favorite airline departing from your nearest airport. Another misconception about cheap international flights is that you’ll have to fly standby, which of course means there’s a good chance you won’t depart at all. Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s possible to enjoy significant savings on overseas travel even when you purchase a seat of your own. Finally, many would-be travelers are under the impression that the only way to get cheap international flights is to be a student or senior citizen. Wrong again. These discount tickets are open to anyone savvy enough to take advantage of them.
Now that you know that cheap international flights do indeed exist, you’re probably wondering where to find them. More often than not, these discount airline tickets are only offered on various travel websites right here on the Internet. Most of the sites you encounter will be straightforward discount travel services. This means you enter your desired departure and return dates into the site’s database and get a list of the cheapest fares available on all airlines on those dates. These fares are almost always cheaper than the fares the airline will quote if you call them directly. (I know because I’ve actually checked!) This is a very easy way to find cheap international flights.
Other websites offer cheap international flights via a bidding system. What this means is you specify the price you are willing to pay for your airplane tickets. After a few days, you’ll get an email telling you whether or not your bid has been accepted. Although this can be a very effective way of finding cheap international flights, be aware that your bid constitutes a binding offer and you can’t back out of it without penalties. So if you find a better deal later on, you’re out of luck. Also, if you bid too low on your cheap international flights, your offer won’t be accepted and you’ll still be out of luck.
Hopefully you’ll be able to use this information to get cheap international flights on all of your future vacations. Now that I don’t have to pay full fare for my seat, I can spend the extra money doing something memorable on my trip. You can do the same if you follow my advice.
